Trafficked to remote Black Rock in the Appalachians, Lina Hayes is imprisoned and brutalized by her buyer Joe Datch. After three failed escape attempts, she is locked in a freezing root cellar, where she hears the voice of her supposed unborn child guiding her to survive. She digs her way out, evades coyotes, armed search parties and a life-threatening infected wound with the help of a mute old hunter. She manages to call 911 and is finally rescued by federal law enforcement. Later she learns the voice was a trauma-induced hallucination. She testifies to dismantle a multi-state trafficking ring, saving 36 women, then returns home to make peace with her painful past.
